emo beat European Champs Clapham, 24th August

emo travelled to the capital to have a training weekend with current European Champions Clapham. A reduced Clapham side played off against a reduced emo side (11 on each team for Sunday's game) and while Saturday was basically drills and 5 pull against each other (which we won twice, despite losing Freddie to a nasty head collision), the real test was Sunday morning when we played a proper game. We came out to an early 2-0 lead via a pushpass assist, then the next bit is a blur, both teams trading points. We scored a few points in 3 passes, they took their time but were equally clinical. Neither team got more than 2 up in the first half, and we won that half by a couple on the back of some good zone D and zone O, esp Steady's 40yard hammer to Mum and some quick movement which they were never able to catch up with. The highlight point probably being Mote's huge layout block on the first pass after a monster pull by Mum, with Thrash providing the quick assist. Money. They went on a run right after half but once our O line punched it in, our D line stepped up and got the breaks back. At 10-8 it was a game to 12, and we traded from there... at game point 11-10 we turned over but were able to get it back quickly, and the rest was academic as Brummie cut deep for the final goal thrown by Colonel... emo win 12-10! Great work to gut out a victory in sloppy conditions.
